At Jana Studio, we believe that photography/videography is both an art and a science! Our journey started two generations ago with black and white photography in 1936 – long before Indian independence – in Punalur, Kollam.
Founded back in 1936 by the photographer Mr. I. Janardhanan, Jana Studio has a rich history in the field of photography. Initially specializing in black and white photography, the studio has undergone transformations over time.
In 1985, Mr. J. Balan, son of Mr. Janardhanan and a passionate educator himself, introduced videography and a manual color printing laboratory to our repertoire. By 1995, Mr. Sini Balan took charge after his father, Mr. J. Balan, and propelled Jana Studio into the digital color lab era, revolutionizing modern photography. Under the guidance of Mr. Sini Balan, we expanded our reach through the establishment of two branches.
Today, Jana Studio continues to capture moments and craft enduring memories by combining tradition with innovation. Over the last 86+ years, we have evolved into an ultra-modern studio with state-of-the-art equipment and technology.
